The Oak Lake and Area Economic Development Board is a volunteer organization comprised of 8 individuals dedicated to the betterment of the Oak Lake area economic base. This board is represented by 6 community minded volunteers and a representative from the Oak Lake Town Council as well as the R.M. of Sifton Council. The Oak Lake area benefits from the activities of the E.D.B. through such events as the Ox'n Cart Fall Festival which was held on September 10, 2005. This Festival is a 1 day event which featured a pancake breakfast, a Trade Fair and Craft Show, Sheep Shearing and Herding demonstration, Kids' Corner, Food Court with entertainment, Classic Car Show and Shine, 3D Rodeo, Cowboy Poetry and Music concert, and to end the day off there was a delicious buffet supper featuring pit barbecued beef, bison, and elk. The 2nd Annual Oak Lake Ox'n Cart Fall Fetival was a great place to be on the 10th of September! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! The E.D.B. also organizes the Annual Christmas Light-Up and Santa Brunch held the last weekend of November. The Light-Up is held on Friday night . This is held on Main St. Then at 7:00 we begin the official 'light-up' with the singing of carols. On Sunday we have the Santa Brunch which includes a delicious brunch, as well as great activities and shopping for the kids, and a Silent Auction. The E.D.B. also organizes the annual 'Band in the Park and Fireworks Evening' at the Lions Ox'n Cart Campground on the Friday evening prior to the annual Fair. This evening is sponsored by E.D.B. but could not be held without the support of local businesses, individuals, and the local Town, and R.M. of Sifton councils.
