This summer, the Oak Lake CAP Site had the privilege of having two youth community coordinators, one of which designed the logo to the left. The coordinators have been working at the local CAP site, learning HTML and graphic design. Ross Kroeker and Melissa Van Meer have been working since the beginning of July, and have developed their computer and Internet skills.

Andrew Plett has recently been employed as the Regional Coordinator for the Western Manitoba Community Access Sites. He is also working in Oak Lake, helping Ross and Melissa develop their computer and Internet skills. They are currently working on this website, as well as working on developing a CIMnet portion of the site, where local organizations will soon be able to update their own information with ease without having to know any HTML.

The Oak Lake and Area Website has The Community Access Program (CAP) has been around since 1995, and was developed to help provide rural and remote communities with affordable public access to the Internet, as well as the skills to use it effectively.

The partners in this program are: Junior Achievement, Industry Canada, Human ResourcesDevelopment Canada, and Manitoba Education and Training, Manitoba Intergovernmental affairs, and Community Connections.

The communities of Oak Lake, Griswold, and Kenton, welcome you and hope you enjoy this site!   Why not come and see the peaceful lifestyle and scenic beauty of our area firsthand this summer!
